Enable Design strengthens EV charging design capability for fleet, depot and eHGV infrastructure

Enable Design is continuing to support the growth of EV charging infrastructure through end-to-end design services for fleet electrification, eHGV charging hubs, depot charging and grid-connected power systems.
The team provides civil, structural and electrical design for EV charging schemes, with experience spanning charger foundations, ducting, cable routes, HV/LV infrastructure, earthing, operational layouts, DNO/IDNO coordination and construction support.
This capability is built around practical delivery. EV charging projects are rarely just about placing chargers on a plan. They need safe vehicle movement, buildable civils, robust power infrastructure, clear adoption requirements and electrical design that works from the point of connection through to the charger.
Enable Design’s recent project experience includes the Nissan Sunderland eHGV Charging Hub, where the team delivered integrated civil and electrical detailed design for an eHGV charging hub supporting Gridserve’s ZEHID Electric Freightways programme. The design included charger foundations, ducting, cable routes, HV/LV interfaces, earthing and operational layouts within a live manufacturing environment.
At Maritime Birch Coppice, Tamworth, Enable Design delivered multi-disciplinary civil, electrical and DNO/IDNO design for a high-capacity eHGV charging hub. The scheme included a five-bay charging layout, 5 × 360 kW chargers, a 2 MVA substation and LV feeder network, with design coordination covering metering, earthing, adoption interfaces and 11 kV grid connection requirements.
The team has also supported EV charging infrastructure at GXO Enfield Depot, integrating 3 × 360 kW eHGV chargers with the site’s existing private electrical infrastructure. The design focused on HV/LV integration, charger civils, cable routing, earthing and construction support, helping to provide a site-led power solution without requiring a new DNO connection.
These projects demonstrate Enable Design’s joined-up approach to EV charging design. Civil engineering, power systems, grid connection, DNO/IDNO requirements and construction-stage insight are brought together by one coordinated team, helping clients reduce interface risk and progress schemes with buildability in mind.
